Studio Hillside is an artist workspace located inside (and outside) of a beautiful, bright barn in rural Saint Lazare, Qc.

The space which served as a working barn for over 44 years, has been completely overhauled to host two art studios, a kitchen, photography area, workshop room, and bathroom.

Let’s back up a bit….I have always dreamed of a homestead studio, separate from the house. The idea admittedly felt quite far fetched until the perfect opportunity arose. Unbeknownst to us, our neighbours next door were looking to relocate. They thought of us before listing their beloved home and we were approached with the opportunity to purchase a 3 acre farmette with a 5 stall horse barn, bordering 12 acres of forest and nature trails. My family was feeling cramped in our (then) digs. My husbands business was expanding and I had been searching for the perfect setting to grow my art practice. Needless to say, having a barn in the backyard seemed too good to be true!
And so in February of 2018 the barn~studio conversion began. My fellow artist and best buddy Nancy Farnum signed on to help make this dream a reality and with that we adorned the project with the name ‘Studio Hillside’.
This seemed the perfect name in tribute to the hilly forest and landscape surrounding us. Our shared passion for design and natural rustic aesthetic made for the perfect combo to turn the space into something amazing.

The beauty of the surroundings not only inspires, but serves as a wonderful stomping ground for Willow and Gretta, the resident studio dogs.

As this dream has evolved we have seen an immediate interest in art collaborations, studio visits and workshops. Please contact us for more info.

Due to COVID 19, Studio Hillside is open by appointment only.
